Exploring the repertoire of music available for 2 oboes and English horn has been the mission of the Hilltop Trio for more than decade, and continues to this day. Known for extensive research and creative and eclectic programming, the trio has presented special programs for Beethoven’s 200th birthday, a program of mostly patriotic music for the renovation of a museum in Charlestown, and a program of music inspired by opera and popular songs.
On concert hall stages from Boston to Seattle, the members of the The Northeast Quintet are accomplished symphonic and solo performers as well as experienced chamber musicians.
The Quintet is well known for audience-friendly programming which demonstrates rich musical depth and an original creative approach.
They regularly perform themed programs such as "Music Around The World" ,"Dances With Winds" and "Peter and the Wolf" for school children, and have produced teacher's workshops on the theme of "Identity In Music" and a historical recital program titled "100 Years of American Chamber Music" which was performed in Boston, New Bedford and Kingston, RI.
In 2000 they represented the State of Rhode Island as recipients of an NEA Continental Harmony Commissioning grant which facilitated the creation and performance of a ground-breaking original work for Gospel Choir and Wind Quintet titled "Testimonials" by Stephen Michael Newby. As devoted educators, the quintet also served as faculty for the Northeast Quintet Camp, a training workshop for young musicians at Salve Regina University in Newport.
